Creating a Network Infrastructure for a Major Port

Client – Baku International Sea Trade Port

Baku International Sea Trade Port, also known as the Port of Baku, is the largest and busiest port on the Caspian Sea. It connects with the Caspian’s other major ports and provides a gateway to the Black, Mediterranean, Baltic and North seas and the Atlantic Ocean, via the Volga–Don Canal and the Volga-Baltic Waterway. In 2018 the Port of Baku handled 3.8 m tonnes of cargo.

On 18 March 2015, the Port of Baku was reorganized as a closed joint-stock company under a decree of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Business challenge

The company management faced the enormous challenge of relocating the Port of Baku from the centre of the city to a larger, modern facility at Alat. In order to streamline operations, the new port needed to minimize loading and unloading times.
